"My not so functional family" is a title that is bound to appeal to most people, because no one's family is perfect and we all have our disagreements and clashes. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Claudia and Rachel, Claudia and Phinn and Claudia and Poppy. It was reminiscent of a proper family where the mother is slightly overbearing and believes it is her way or the highway and there has to be a black sheep which, unfortunately for Poppy, seems to be her! As someone of a similar age to Claudia, I can understand the strike of making decisions and doubting your life - I feel I can really relate to her and how she is feeling about deciding her future. Whilst we don't see too much of how the story is going to play out (I'm hoping for whirlwind romance and a story of finding yourself!) I feel that this book is going to be a fun, lighthearted read with some more serious undertones about discovering who you are and finding what you want from life. I'm not usually a big contemporary fan but I think this will be a great read for many people.
