This is a so-so start. The author does get the dynamics between family right - you might hate your sister/brother but woe betide anyone who bad mouths them or hurts them because you would kill for them. Whether this is an actual truism or not I have no idea as I am an only child but it seems a familiar enough trope in books that it surely has some validity?
