My first impression of the book was that it would be a light hearted, pleasant read which might be a bit too 'girlie' at times - and it was more or less spot on. The book flows easily and pleasantly with a few gentle ups and downs. As the family in question feature 4 siblings of which 3 are girls and the mother is featured more than the father, there are inevitably some references to clothes, make up and other predominantly female topics. Whilst these parts are not particularly interesting they are short and sparse enough to not render the book boring. Other than that, the sibling quarrels, family issues and first world problems are something most readers will relate to and enjoy reading. The climax comes at the end which is not entirely expected. I personally found, however, that it finished quite abruptly. A few lines more or less wrapped up what the entire book was building up to. A bit of continuity or proper closure would have been preferable. Overall, the book won't change your life but it definitely won't be something you regret reading. If I had to sum it up in one line I'd say it was something like an Australian 'Friends' meets 'Neighbours' with a bit of Bridget Jones' Diary thrown in for good measure.
