The style of writing in this book is excellent. Narrated from the main character Korede's perspective, the rich descriptions make the places and people come to life. The characters are believable and likeable, even when you know you shouldn't like them! The story is well paced and has enough plot to keep the reader going despite the lack of dramatic twists and turns. I really enjoyed the elements of learning how the girls grew up, as this plays a massive part in understanding their relationship and actions later in life. Korede is a heroine in so many ways in this book and proves her worth to her whole family throughout. The only thing that left me slightly sad was the ending, as I think it could have been a richer more dramatic ending and it felt hurried
