This is by far one of the best new debut novels I have read in a while. Oyinkan Braithwaite's writing is so clever and caustic, that it offers the reader a spark of insight on the corruption of Nigerian government and police. The story follows two sisters, one of whom kills her boyfriends, thus leaving the older sister to clean up the mess, without being suspected by the police. This novel plays on the sarcasm of how an overexaggerated plot can get, a bit surreal at points, with hints of witty romance in it, it will definitely make you laugh at the sardonical jokes and the caustic satire that Braithwaite's plays upon. The writing style is unique and breezy, letting the reader progress quite quickly with the plot, and oftentimes leaving him hints of philosophical statements as food for thought. A most surprising debut novel, that show how much potential Braithwaite has in front of her as an author.
