After seeing this book was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, I picked it up from the library.
I love the cover and the title, they had me drawn in straight away. I read the synopsis and put it to the top of my to be read pile with excitement... but I was a little disappointed!
Overall, I enjoyed the book. It was an easy read, I didn’t find myself struggling to get through it at all and I love that in a book, but the plot itself, (the ending specifically!) ended up disappointing me. I think from the hype it had, I expected it to keep me on the edge of my seat. I expected the ending to have me reeling thinking “oh my god I can’t believe that just happened” but I never got there.
On the whole there’s nothing “wrong” with this book per day, I did enjoy it. I just found it rather anti-climactic!
