Fascinating Premise, But Fell A Little Short for Me

'My Sister, the Serial Killer' was a quick read that I had initially pegged down as black/dark comedy, though after reading it, I’m not as sure that it falls easily into that genre.

Whilst it was really interesting novel that centred around the themes of familial loyalty, I felt like it never came to a 'proper' conclusion - and this dragged it down. Neither the narrator nor the sister were caught or arrested, which some might think cleverly subversive, but I just found anticlimatic.

On the flip side, though, this book did have some very cool features: I love the formatting of the chapters and the structure of the novel, with each chapter being pretty snappy and never overly long that it bored the reader.
