When Korede's dinner is interrupted one night by a distress call from her sister, Ayoola, she knows what's expected of her: bleach, rubber gloves, nerves of steel and a strong stomach. This is the third boyfriend that Ayoola has dispatched, in apparent self defence. When Ayoola starts to date Korede’s love interest she must decide if blood is thicker than water.

This was such an easy book to read, I read it in one sitting. The chapters were super short, which I always really love in a book. But that said, they were short and sharp with very little substance.

The story is ok, it could however be amazing, as the concept for the story is fantastic! I didn’t find it funny like was suggested, although appreciated the dark humour.

I struggled with the writing, I found it very basic, there wasn’t enough plot or character development for a story that could be more shocking. I feel that this could have been a fantastic book had more time and energy been taken to add more description, depth and feeling. It also lacked any suspense, twists or turns.

I didn’t feel anything towards the characters, they left me feeling indifferent.

I felt somewhat underwhelmed and disappointed having finished it, not helped by the abrupt ending. I struggle to see how it could be such a ‘literary sensation’.
