This is book is in a class of its own. It is lethally brilliant, funny and dark all in one and takes you on a fast paced whirlwind of a journey from murder and bleach to the power of a sibling bond. The main character Korede is everything you expect from an elder sibling, patient, supportive and with the weight of the world ( mainly her younger sister Ayoola ) on her shoulders. She works a nice normal job as a nurse but on the ever more frequent occasions spends her time off clearing up her sisters latest murder. Ayoola on the other hand is beautiful, spoilt and can do no wrong. This book looks at not only the manipulative side of Ayoola and her murders but also the complexities of a sister bond and their shared troublesome childhood. It is a refreshing read to have the males characters, even the victims, play a secondary role in the story. This is not a long story and its better off because of it, its fast paced and moves with elegance through the captivating and hilarious narrative. I can't wait to see what else Braithwaite will do in the future.
