Where do I start? I read this book in a day, thankfully due to its 226 pages, that made it possible. Did I enjoy this book? My answer would probably be no. When I first seen this book, I was under the impression it was a thriller, a sister for a serial killer, who wouldn’t think that?

What I got instead was a book about a relationship between two sisters and the lengths one will go to protect the other, even if that means breaking the law. I found it VERY hard to like Ayoola, I found her as a selfish individual, who expects the world to be handed to her on a silver plate and never deal with the repercussion of her actions. It felt like Korede’s life was for her sister and her mother expected that of her too.

I also felt that we don’t get to know the characters, I would have loved to have known more about Muhtar as what we did see of him, I liked his character and what could have been built between him and Korede would have been great. The flow of the book didn’t work for me either, it jumped from one thing to the next with no explanation and no natural flow. I understand the book was supposed to be a comedy, but I just didn’t find it that funny.

I did still rate the book 2 stars. I did finish it, I did like one of the characters and I did feel it could have had potential to be so much more but it just didn’t work for me unfortunately and had it been a longer book, I probably would have DNF’d.

This may sound like a brutal review, but I am honest with my opinions in what I read and it’s not very often that I do come across a book that just didn’t agree with me and when I do, i’ll be honest about how I feel about that.
