This book has had much success and many of my friends have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am really sad I was not one of those people as the author is clearly a talented writer and this book is original

However, I am not the intended audience for this book. I read this as it came up in my book club as the monthly read. I normally hate crime fiction or anything involving murder, with only very few exceptions and unfortunately this was not one of them.

I didn’t care about any of the characters, I thought the story didn’t really go anywhere and the ending made me feel like we hadn’t really progressed anywhere and this cycle of murder, repeat, murder repeat, books like this make me feel like I’ve wasted my time reading them, I like to start in one place and go on a journey with a book, ending up somewhere other than where I started.

There was huge scope to explore the father daughter relationship further, his actions in her formative years clearly influenced the murdering, the dysfunctional nature of this family, but the author didn’t Explore any Psychology behind her actions at all. This book was at times misandristic and I found the view that seemingly ALL men, even educated seemingly emotionally intelligent doctors look for only a pretty face so far from reality that it seemed fantasy at times.

Clearly this book has a wide and excited audience who will await her next novel, I’m just not the intended audience.
