Written in an accessible style, with great characters. As the story unfolds, the tangled lives of these characters develop. Sympathy, judgement, exasperation, pity. All of these emotions came up as I followed the story of these two sisters. It was a glimpse into a very different world from my own, a woman's world, an African world and yet people are people. The emotions, motivations and desires are the same. The need to be loved, the need for acceptance. Reaching out to family for help, believing that we are loved. Then the pain of rejection, the anger, vengeful thoughts. This is the tapestry of human emotion told with passion and skill. What a brilliant storyteller, which is still one of the greatest skills in the world!
