Having made the long-list for the 2019 Booker Prize, I initially feared this book may be as pretentious or forcibly literary as some of it's predecessors. Thankfully, I was completely wrong!

My Sister, The Serial Killer is narrated by Korede, a hardworking nurse, forever living under the shadow of her more beautiful and outgoing sister, who, as the title reveals, happens to be a serial killer. Each chapter is short and the style is so simple and matter-of-fact that you find yourself complicit in the murders, almost willing for the sisters to continue unnoticed and unpunished. By the end I was left surprised at how easily I accepted and almost condoned Ayoola's behaviour and wondering when my moral compass malfunctioned; A sign of an excellent book!
