From the title of this book I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. My Sister, The Serial Killer is about Korede the sister of Ayoola. Korede is an introverted nurse who has a crush on handsome doctor Tade. Ayoola is her beautiful sister, the serial killer. The book isn't actually about Ayoola though. It focuses on Korede and her state of mind and her thoughts as she cleans up after her sister recklessly murders her partners, in what Ayoola claims to be self-defense.

This is a very well written fast paced book, which suits me perfectly. There was so much going on and I had to finish it so I read it in one sitting! The best thing about this book is how well the author has built the characters in this story. Throughout the story we explore the relationship between the two sisters, especially when Ayoola starts to date Tade, who is Korede's crush! We understand more about Korede's past and why she feels so protective and loyal to Ayoola and we see that bond to her sister be tested when Ayoola starts to date Tade. We see Korede's loyalty to her sister come into question when she experiences conflicting emotions of being both jealous and protective of her sister.

I'm not sure that the book is in fact a thriller or a mystery, it definitely is dark satire. The book is set in Nigeria and it is a breath of fresh air to read a book set somewhere other than Europe or America. I would definitely be interested in reading more books set in Africa. The author has written a smart, gripping and twisted story and I would be interested in reading more from her. Overall, I recommend this if you like dark twisted humour and if you enjoy reading about sisterly love and loyalty.
