I’m still not sure if this book is for me or not. I generally like this genre, however this one did not appeal to me in the same way as other books. I felt I struggled to get into it and felt a little uncomfortable reading it. .

The novel starts off with quite a bold opening which is rather endearing. The opening sentences, regarding the use of bleach to clear up a murder scene, are rather impactful and set the scene immediately. However, as I read on I felt the plot and the story lost their momentum and were underdeveloped.

The chapters in the book were also very short, in some cases only being a sentence or two long. Although, this added a level of drama and suspense to the book in places, I overall felt they detracted from the details that could have made the novel so much richer. The novel was rather short and felt it could have been made much longer.

Additionally, the novel is set around two sisters, Korede and Ayoola. I found it very hard to connect to either character and was left feeling confused over their relationship. I also felt that the relationship between the sisters and their father could have been expanded upon further.

Overall, the novel takes on an interesting angle, however I feel sadly this was not for me.
