when i first started the book, i was expecting a book about two teenagers (Malachai and Nikki) falling in love, however this is so much deeper and that is only a small part of the book, its a story about dreams and escape, wanting and deserving more from life, Nikki's mum is cold and complicated, making Nikki more determined to escape and become a famous singer, while she is super talented can she really turn her back on Malachai , her friends and her sister though, the book shows how no ones life is perfect no matter it how it seems from the outside, it shows how different people deal with their pasts in different ways, how you can either let it control you, let the weight of peoples opinions drag you down, or let it drive you to succeed and become a better person, family can go deeper than blood, there are a few scenes i wish were a little longer and more detailed though,
