Ive never encountered a YA rom-com before. I often see the friends-to-lovers trope but it tends to be in a fantasy setting involving a fairy or some other mythical creature.
This isn’t the sort of book I would have read when I was the target age, and it’s fair to say I’m well beyond the target age by now.

That being said, My Week With Him seems like it has plenty of things that would appeal to the right audience. Straight away there’s a tweet / text so we know which decade we’re set in (all that is missing are the obligatory emojis) and the “first night of spring break” cements us into the USA (punctuated by the cowboy boots and taco illustrations, just incase there’s any uncertainty)

The artwork continues the theme from Excuse me While I Ugly Cry so fans of the precious book will easily recognise it as being from the same author / series. A modern Judy Blume, with good representation for people of colour.
