I love me a YA book!
This was my first book by this author and it had the friends to lovers trope so right off the bat I knew i was going to love reading this. The fmc Nikki was such a unique character that you can help but connect to and root for. I loved Mal as an mmc and these two together were so cute, they both deserve their happy ending.
A very unique plot that I haven’t read before, I like the whole premise of Mal trying to get the fmc to stay and spending a week trying to convince her. There was a lot of depth to these characters and I especially enjoyed seeing the family aspect within this book, we have the strained relationship between Nikki and her mom and Mals supportive family dynamic too.
This was such a feel good read and a novel full of serious social issues that many young people face, family, abandonment, prejudice, poverty.
I've read this author before and she is always such a good read and draws great characters.
