A young adult (YA) book about family struggles from the point of view of the protagonist, Nikki. There is also an interesting use of diary entries in this novel, making it slightly different from many others of this style and genre. This is a great YA book written in a lively style with a mix of the story told by protagonist Nikki along with a mix of diary style entries and thoughts. mum, some of this came across but more back story might have helped. Nikki and her mother have a major argument and Nikki, wishing to portray her dream, turns to her friend, the 'him' of the title for support. A good book, an easy read and a fun one to pass on to friends to get enjoyment out of too, while some important issues are also faced within the narrative. The author has thought out the characters well, and we get to know them as the plot progresses, which is extremely important.
