I have not come across this author before but I will look out for novel,s by Joya Goffney in my future reading. The writing flowed well and it really pulled you in from the very first page. The character's ( apart from Nikki,s Mum!) were really likeable and you really wanted things to work out for them especially for Nikki. The back story of Malachi,s childhood and his parent,s also really added to the story and made it all the more 'real'. I think this story is great and although it wasn't an edge of your seat page turner it was definitely a book you wanted to keep reading. It also left you wanted more - how did Nikki,s audition go ? What happened when she came home ? The relationship between Nikki and her Mum - was that any better when she came home ? I would definitely recommend this author for anyone to read but I think it is excellent as a teen story.
