This is a YA coming of age novel where the main character, Nikki, is struggling with family stuff, friendships, deciding what she wants to do with her life, etc.
I've been really intrigued by the first 50 pages and honestly can't wait to read more. You get introduced to the main characters - Nikki, her friends Daeja and Riley, her sister, her mom, and Malachai, and start to see the relationships and friendships between each character and Nikki. Nikki is facing the dilemma of choosing whether to go to California for an audition, whether to tell Malachai (who's in a new relationship and she's not jealous..), how to get away with it without telling her mom (it results in her being kicked out of her home), whether she actually wants to come back from California, and how to tell her friends she's thinking about all this. She feels a lot of burden of responsibility. It seems like a book others would be interested in and quite a good read.
