This is the first book by Joya Gofney that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last, I absolutely loved it!!!!!
I must admit that I do really enjoy young adult as a genre, so I knew going into it that I had night hopes for it.
The book is a heartbreaking exploration of Nikkis struggles with her mother and now a parents behaviour can impact the life of their child.
I really enjoyed how there were so many different aspects to the book…….realistic characters and their relationships, black love, realistic emotional representations and also parent/child relationships.
Strong topics and drama aside this was such a fun read it has everything you want and more from a rom com.
I loved seeing the self discovery aspect from Nikki who was searching for her place in the works and also what it feels like to feel like you have found your home.
All in all a fab read!!!
