I have never read any of this author's books before, but the cover made it look interesting and enjoyable. The main 2 characters in the book Nikki and Mal, are really well written and the book is easy to read and gets you interested from the beginning, it starts with Nikki wanting to go to an audition in California, but before she goes she has lots of challenges to overcome, and her best friend Mal has always been there for her throughout the tough times, he lives in a huge house and wants for nothing while Nikki lives with her mum and sister in a trailer park and are poor. So Nikki has to decide weather to try and make it as a singer in California or stay at home in Dallas with her dysfunctional family and her best friend. She has a week to decide and the book focuses on that week, which then covers lots of turbulent times in both hers and Mals life and she learns a lot about life.
