Sweet
3.5 stars for this book. "My week with him" is a cute Young Adult romance that also tackles family problems, so it is not just lovey-dovey. Actually I would say the lovey-dovey stuff is not even the complete center of the book.
This book is about Nikki, who wants to audition for a band in California, but she is not sure she wants to come back to her hometown after. She is conflicted to leave because of her mum, who she has a few issues with, and to remain for her best friend Mal, whom she loves. The book is her journey for a week leading up to the audition, during which her best friend Mal tries to give her all the reasons to stay.
Absolutely cute concept, and their story is sweet. I felt it was rushed because it was all in a week, and we quickly got to calling each other 'baby' but in the context of the book "My week with him" makes absolutely perfect sense. I am not a fan of super fast relationship, but this was done well.
I liked how the relationship between Nikki and her mum, as well as with her sister, was explored well and made it quite raw and real.
The cover is absolutely beautiful.
