I loved this author’s previous books and this one did not disappoint. This was such a sweet, coming of age, young adult romance. Whilst it has the fun, friends to lovers and found family tropes, it also provides an exploration of intergenerational trauma and complex family relationships. Nikki is trapped; surviving and not living, stuck in the life that she was born into. Despite coping with her mother’s cruelty and everything else that life can throw at her, she remains determined to find happiness and follow her dreams. Mal is such a supportive and lovely character, who remains loyal to Nikki despite them seemingly coming from opposite worlds. He never asks her to choose between him and her plans, and he gives her space whilst remaining her best friend. This is such a wonderful, wholesome and heart-warming read! (I also love that the covers all match!)
