A fabulous FI with a protagonist that I can immediately identify and empathise with in Rose Shaw with her loneliness, sense of isolation, constant exhaustion and feeling of not being a failure as a mother and wife. Jack Jordan really captured her plight and I was drawn into an atmospheric opening. Rose comes across as an ordinary woman just trying to do her best and who wouldn’t read the journal before handing it to the police? I would, for one!
