This book is well written and is hard to put down once started. It covers a lot of themes , insomnia, grief, homosexuality, guilt, and of course murder. Rose's insomnia leads to the death of her daughter and the breakdown of her relationship with her husband and other daughter. As the story unfolds we learn of her guilt over her brother's death and hatred of her father. The diary she finds gives her a purpose in life. Chapters from the diary are interspersed with the present day events. We also learn about the other victims of the killer. The last part of the book is quite violent. We learn little of the real feelings of her husband. Should he not take some of the blame as he didn't seem to really support Rose. Should he even have let her drive.
