From the opening lines this book grabs the reader's attention and does not let go throughout the rest of the novel. Rose's insomnia and her painful private life provides the preface of the story and, although Rose is a hard character to really engage with or get to know well, we do understand why she does what she does. Murder, grief, loss - its all here in this thrilling novel. We not only learn about Rose and her personal situation, but also about today's social issues, and the author's writing is consistently good. It is an emotional roller-coaster of a book, and one that doesn't disappoint throughout its duration. I'd be interested to read the previous and forthcoming work from this young author, who is a credit to the thriller genre in the 21st century.
