Vicky knows that her father was born in Morocco and that he left as a tiny baby with his father ,she also knows that her grandmother stayed in Morocco and never saw her father again.
The story is set in the 1960s when Marrakech was a mecca for the young fashion designers of the time. Vicky is a fashion student who has decided she wants to meet her grandmother but also hopes she will be able to introduce her to Yves St Laurent who has a house in Marrakesh.
Initially Vicky finds her grandmother, Clemence, very aloof and is put out when Clemence arranges for Vicky to stay in an apartment in the city rather than with her. Vicky's cousin Bea arrives to spend the Summer with her and then their trip becomes unexpectedly dangerous as they witness a murder one night.
The story is absolutely gripping , family secrets are shared and understanding develops between the generations as the danger and adventure progresses
This book is the third in a trilogy but it does not matter if you haven't read the first two as it works as a stand alone book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading the other two books in the series.
