Clemence lives in a kasbah, high in the mountains in Morocco. Her granddaughter, Vicky, whom she has never met, travels to meet her and spend a summer in Morocco. Desperate to keep dark family secrets hidden, Clemence tries to avoid getting to know Vicky - keeping her distance, and suggesting that Vicky spends her time staying in Marrakech rather than the kasbah.
Vicky's cousin, Beatrice, comes out to spend some time with her in Marrakech and they manage to get themselves into all sorts of trouble. At the same time, characters from Clemence's past start appearing; threatening to reveal dark family secrets, and crack Clemence's immaculate facade.
Needless to say, the dark secrets start to unravel and drama ensues...to say much more would spoil the story, so I'll just say that this is a good read, with plenty of drama in it. A recommended read.
