I love books in the exotic so Marrakech is the perfect setting to appeal to many readers out there pining for the summer sunshine.

This book takes us back to Marrakech in 1966. We follow the story of Vicky Baudin who, curious and excited, steps onto a train winding through Morocco in search of a grandmother she never met.

Whilst we go on a physical journey with the sights and sounds of Morocco right to the edge of the Atlas Mountains, the closer she gets geographically, the closer she becomes to the answers she’s always wanted.

However, it’s not a simple journey (otherwise why would this be a book!) There’s dark secrets that are being whispering amongst the dunes and by finding out about her grandmother, these secrets have the potential to cause pain as well providing answer.

Despite never reading the other books in the series, this was really easy to pick up and read independently. I really enjoyed it.
