This story is being told through the experiences of two women, Clemence, and her granddaughter , Vicky, during the time that Vicky spent in Marrakech in the 1960s. Vicky found out recently from an older relative that she had a grandmother , who she had never met, living in Marrakech. So she decided to make the long journey to visit this unknown grandmother. She took her cousin Bea along with her for company and so that she had somebody young to enjoy the country with. The girls were hoping to enjoy the delights of Marrakech, the food, the weather, the local social life and maybe even new love interests. They had not been there long when they realised that there was another side to this lovely city.
