I didn't realise this book was the last in a series when I picked it up, but it really didn't matter it worked as a stand-alone story. I really liked the scene-setting in this book - without being too overly wordy or descriptive, it really made you imagine what Morocco would have been like in the 1960s, you could almost smell the spices! The characters were well-rounded and likeable, and the emotions were written about well. Personally, I felt that Clemence's big secret was easily guessable from the hints which kept being dropped, maybe it would have had more of an emotional impact when she revealed it if you hadn't already guessed what it was!
Maybe the ends were tied up a little too neatly, but I'd rather that than leave a load of unanswered questions and cliffhangers.
Overall, a very enjoyable book that made your heart race in places and made you want to keep reading to find out what happened.
