I was already interested in the fact this is based on a true story, but after reading this extract, I definitely want to find out how the story pans out for Kiara. She is already a likeable character, who is living a hard life trying to survive. As a reader I am already rooting for her and am invested in her story.
I am anticipating Kiara being exposed to corruption and various inequalities and therefore want to find out what happens. A great start and a great debut novel.
