This does not seem as if it will be an uplifting read but is rather a gritty and gripping story recalling the life of a young girl living in extreme poverty. She is intelligent and well-intentioned but life and her background appears to be transpiring against her. Through circumstances beyond her control she is fighting for her survival. Perhaps not for the poolside - this is one to read and reflect on.
