Nightcrawling by Leila Mottley is an intense sounding blurb but the first look is very readable. A young woman left to fend not just for herself in a dangerous city but for a similarly abandoned young boy it makes everything feel a little overwhelming and that's before being forced into a police corruption scandal. It's full on.
