I think there's been a lot of books recently who seem to follow the same kind of story about a young girl on the cusp of adulthood who has to navigate her own way through life. The first one that comes to mind is 'Where the Crawdads Sing' which I loved, but maybe there's a bit too much of these kinds of stories.
However, I saw David Eggers had given it a good review so if this comes my way I'll be sure to try it
