A book about books - what's not to love!
I mean, a book about books, what more could you possibly want! I read fiction and non-fiction books, probably about 70-30, so I was excited to pick this one up.
Overall, I loved it, but I did struggle slightly with the history parts and it felt slightly too academic - I found it quite heavy to read and kept putting it down and picking it back up - which is why I deducted a star.
However, that was the only niggle I had about this brilliant book - I learn lots thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
What was exceptionally useful was the index at the back, which I only discovered towards the end of the book. This makes it easier to put down and pick back up again - maybe if I'd have discovered that, I would have given it 5 stars!
In summary, this books is engaging, fascinating, taking you from ancient China to World War II in one fell swoop - a truly enchanting read for any book lover.
Emma Smith, you truly are a wordsmith.
