This book is so good! I was so surprised at how the characters and plot played out with Kiara. The shocking story follows the main character, a normal seventeen year old but going through hard times with money and then she and her brother, Trevor, are kicked out of their apartment with the rent rising. Their mum is known to go missing for days on end and then Kiara is left with surviving with her brother and taking care of him.
Then the story takes an unexpected turn and Kiara is picked up by two police officers. This story is very shocking and I don't want to give away any spoilers but it is a one that all need to read- a couple of trigger warnings but the characters and secrets all come out in a very brilliant way.
Leila Mottley has done a very cleaver job of highlighting corruption and it is an author that I will be looking out for from now on. If you haven't read it, what are you waiting for?
