Not my usual genre, I found Nightcrawling to be just an average read for me.

Whilst I did feel sympathy towards the main character, I couldn't empathise as much as I wanted to, probably as I hadn't been in the same situation.

Her family dynamic and situation was awful and it's hard to imagine that people really do live in those circumstances and have no control over how things pan out, that they have to do what they can to make a loving and put food on the table.

I did like the friendship that built between the main character and her younger neighbour. It was sweet and showed a lovely side of her, which I wish we has got to see more of.

In reality it's a tough subject, one that isn't talked about much, is hard to read, but shows you can never judge someone until you've walked in there shoes for a while. We all do what we have to do to love and get through each and every day.
