Amazing that the author wrote this when she was just 17 and published at 19 but in a way it did show through.
Felt so sorry for Kiara and all that she had to go through, her father dead, her mother jailed for I think probably child negligence but not actually said, so Kiara and he brother who was just 18 when their mum was taken away, had to fend for themselves but Marcus didn’t want to work, spent all his time making music and thinking he would hit the bit time like his uncle did but it wasn’t happening.
A neighbour, Dee has a young son called Trevor, she disappeared off and Kiara took him in but it was another month to feed and she ended up selling sex.
This book did ramble where it didn’t need to, could have been a lot sharper if some things were left out, also sentences so long,really needed to be broken down.
The ending was very abrupt, for a book that was leading up to the result it was over very quickly.
