Nightcrawling was a good book and I was impressed at the talent of such a young author.
The narrative style was very engaging and I was engrossed by the storyline.
Kiara was an intriguing protagonist and she was successfully portrayed in a way that made her sympathetic to the reader. At no point did it feel like the writer was villainsing her for her work which added to the success of the book. The exploration of all her different kinds of relationships (maternal, sibling, romantic etc) was for the most part well done but her relationship with Ale felt like it was resolved a little too quickly and neatly.
There was a lot of description which was well written but at some points felt like a bit too much. Having said that, I would have loved to have seen Nightcrawling make the booker shortlist and I personally think it has been reviewed too harshly in general.
