An impactful contemporary read
I was immediately captivated by the fast-paced writing style and the exploration of fear, family and belonging. The subject of the book focuses on a contemporary and ongoing issue that doesn't always receive enough media attention, and does so in a thought-provoking and engaging way.
I enjoy books with a dual narrative, where we can follow the story from different parallel perspectives. This book is particularly interesting as it follows a couple whose relationship transcends borders, and I would really like to know how the characters and plot develop.
The cover is eye-catching and I like the symbolism of the migratory birds and the concept of free movement juxtaposed with the very rigid and unrelenting border laws we are introduced to in the first few chapters.
