Yara Zghieb writes movingly of a man returning to Amman in Jordan to bury his Syrian father who was a refugee in Jordan along with his wife. No Land To Light on is set in January 2017 in the United States. While Hadi is away arranging and attending his father's funeral the president declares that the entry of Syrians to the US is detrimental to the country's interests. Hadi has lived in Boston for two years and is married to Sama. As Sama is pregnant she did not travel with her husband however she goes to the airport to greet him on his return. She receives a short call from him which she doesn't understand amid all the noise of an excited crowd at the airport although she doesn't know why there is such unrest. She is pushed around and tries to protect her unborn baby. However she is taken to hospital after becoming unwell and goes into premature labour. Meanwhile Hadi has been told he is being returned to Syria. There has been so much written about the plight of refugees of many nations. Almost every one a heart-rending story. Hopefully there will be a happy ending for Hadi and Sama.
