With a beautiful cover and lovely writing, Yara Zgheib`s No Land to Light On is an interesting and engaging read. This is the story of immigrants from Syria, Sama Zayat and Hadi Deeb. Sama comes to the United States to study at Harvard and Hadi is a political refugee. They now have a life in Boston. When Hadi had to go back to his home country on a family emergency, he gets impacted by the travel ban Presidential order and is refused entry into the States. Zgheib`s beautiful and sensitive writing highlights the characters, their aspirations, their thought process and ongoing circumstances. The difficulties of immigrants, their experience of adapting to changing circumstances and engaging with the political developments in a new country are so clearly depicted and demonstrated in the writer`s words. A home where they were born, and then a home where they want to live. This is a thought-provoking, heartbreaking, honest and memorable read.
