I like that we get to see the story from both Hadi and Sama's perspectives, but the story could have had a much better flow as it seemed to jump around quite often. Although a decent plot, I feel that there were quite a lot of gaps in the story and it would have certainly been interesting to know more about the characters' pasts and how they have reached the point in their lives where they now stand at. I do feel a pang of sympathy for the characters and the distance that is forced between them which of course is the desired impact from the author. Regardless, I still felt distant from the characters, despite wanting to feel more strongly for them but there was a lack of engagement for me as a reader. I did feel more interested in learning of the travel ban and it really made me think of the affect it may have had on families of all different backgrounds.
