Some books just make you stop and really think. At the start of the book we meet Sama a young, married, pregnant Syrian woman heading to the airport to meet her husband Hadi, a Syrian who was granted refugee status in the US. Hadi had travelled to see family however when he landed, he was told about the Muslim Travel Ban imposed by President Trump. He no longer had refugee status, he must go back “home”. At the same time, Sama goes into labour not hearing from her husband or knowing what is happening. With their child in the NICU we join see this family try to reunite and try to find a place to call home.

The book is extremely well written and the characters are extremely well developed. I particularly loved the way it moves between the perspective of both husband and wife.

I think this book is very thought provoking and well worth reading. (And possibly make you cry).
