I read this following reading other books by Anne Cassidy, and this is nothing like those. Anne Cassidy is known for her young adult fiction and its challenging nature, but this had no satisfying conclusion. It feels like 'act one' which is followed by "No Shame."

It was as raw and accurate as a text of this nature could be. The emotion communicated is heart wrenching at times, and spoken with the brutal honesty capturing the age of the narrator. It was hard at times to believe this was a work of fiction.

I wouldn't say this was a comfortable read, and I wouldn't say it's one to pick up for a light read. However it raises issues around trust, shaming, and recovery - how fast is too fast?

Overall, no word describes it more than raw.
