I really should stop judging books just by their covers but I really like the red and gold design for Nomad and it was what drew me in enough to give the summary a read and, ultimately, add it to my to-read list so I think it deserves special mention.

And to be honest, the opening one hundred pages of this book were pretty much everything I want in a spy thriller so I don't regret getting pulled in by the great design.

There's definite lull points in the story, but it maintains a pretty healthy pace throughout with the threats evolving and the plot developing well enough that you don't ever really feel like the story gets stuck anywhere. The set-up and the "villain" are all mostly believable with the occasional venture off into something just that tiny bit too far fetched. It does sometimes threaten to pull you out of the story, but is generally fast paced enough to let you move past it.

My main hesitance with the story was the main character, Marc. He's just the wrong side of the "blank self insert" type of main character for me, and I'd love to have him developed more but maybe that's something that comes in the sequels.

All in all, a pleasant spy thriller.
