Be warned – this is a sequel. There’s actually a first book, called South!!! i noticed how many people were complaining that they did not understand this book... that is why. So I would recommend reading the first book south, and then reading this book, or buying them together...
First of all I was very fascinated by the cover! Every character was so believable and it was a story that kept you wanting to keep reading.....full marks to a very talented author.
The descriptions of the landscapes (the North doesn't appear to have avoided the viruses and the aftermath of the civil war), the people, and the craziness of those in authority, whether virus infected or not, were particularly effectively described in this book.
The conclusion was satisfactory in parts and reassuringly open-ended in others. I'm hoping for a sequel in the series!
